I would like to thank those members of staff that sponsored me for the Mount Snowdon climb that took place in October 2009. I managed to raise just under £100 that was gratefully received by Marie Curie Cancer Care.
It was a challenging event, which was made that much more ‘interesting’ by the terrible weather conditions on the day. By the time we reached the top we were in the clouds, there were gale force winds that threatened to sweep you off the mountain, the temperature was below zero, it was hailing, and visibility was zero – the joy!
The climb was 3500ft to the summit, and for comparison that is around 3 times the height of the Empire State building in New York. Total trekking time to the top and back was around 6 hours, and although there was a tremendous feeling of achievement in getting to the top – I missed out on the fantastic views that would be on offer on a clear day.
Never mind, i will just have to do it again next year - preferably in the summer! |
